Millions of people around the globe have lived their entire lives without access to the electric grid.

Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for a staggering 75 percent of the world’s population without access to electricity. The least electrified country in the world is South Sudan—only 7 percent of the population lives with electricity.

The harsh reality is that 577.5 million people in Africa must use alternative resources for lighting, heating, cooling, refrigeration, operating appliances, machinery, and electronics. Some rural populations don’t have access to electricity at all.

The Main North American Electric Grid Doesn’t Reach Everyone

It’s hard to imagine not having access to electricity when you live in the North America. Here’s the thing: the lack of electricity is a problem that geographically hits to closer home than you might think.

Small community with off-grid power

In 2019, Mexico News Daily reported that 1.5% of their population—approximately 1.8 million people did not have access to the electrical grid. To the north, approximately 200,000 Canadians spanning over 280 communities aren’t connected to the North American electrical grid.

Christopher Duschenes, director of the Centre for the North (a division of The Conference Board of Canada),  says, “Remote communities are not connected to the main North American electric grid and do not receive the benefits that 99 percent of the Canadian population take for granted, such as guaranteed, reliable, and affordable electricity.”

He continues, “They rely solely on locally generated electricity, which typically comes from diesel-powered generators. This limits the potential growth of these communities, results in high electricity costs, and has adverse environmental impacts.”

The problem goes beyond the millions of people without access to a reliable electric grid. The people living without access to the electric grid rely on generators on a daily basis; most generators involve high costs and harm the environment because they operate with polluting gas or diesel fuel.

The solution to one problem shouldn’t create another. Everyone deserves reliable, affordable, and clean energy—MayMaan’s clean energy generators are the solution.

MayMaan’s Generators Can Provide Clean Power to Communities Without Access to the Electric Grid

With MayMann’s clean generators, this worldwide challenge can be swiftly addressed in an inexpensive and dependable way.

MayMaan’s generators run on 70% water and 30% ethanol, requiring no fossil fuels to function.

Ethanol is a renewable fuel that’s readily available throughout the world—it’s also less expensive per gallon than traditional gasoline. The water used in MayMann generators can be sourced from lakes, ponds, or even the ocean after a desalination process.

Not only do MayMaan’s generators make electricity more accessible, but they also make clean energy more available than ever before. Rural areas without access to the power grid shouldn’t need to decide between keeping their environment clean or living without power.

There might be different reasons for populations living without access to reliable electricity, but there’s a universal solution. MayMaan’s generators can supply clean, affordable, and dependable electricity regardless of location.
